The nine temples
Nava Tirupathi is a group of nine Vishnu temples, all among the 108 Divya Desams, on the banks of the Thamirabarani river in Thoothukudi district. Rettai Tirupathi is two temples next to each other, which makes nine. We usually visit them in this order:

Tips for this trip
- Start early. Most of these temples close for a few hours around midday and reopen in the evening, so an early start lets you cover more before the break.
- Carry water and snacks. Some temples are in small villages with few shops nearby.
- Wear traditional clothes and keep footwear in the car; we look after it while you are inside.
- Add Tiruchendur. The Murugan temple by the sea is close to the end of the route.

Srivaikuntam, where the tour usually starts, is approx. 30 km from Tirunelveli. The nine temples are close to each other along the Thamirabarani.
Can we add Tiruchendur?
Yes. Tiruchendur is close to the last temples on the route, so many families end the day there or stay overnight.
Which car is best for a family?
